Larry Washington
& BeatworkzLtd
Since beginning in 2003,
BeatworkzLtd has become one of the premier Audio Sampling CD companies
with a clear focus on quality, sounds, samples & loops. Born in Detroit,
MI, BeatworkzLtd's founding musician, producer, Larry Washington began his
musical career at an early age playing drums behind R&B acts, various
Motown artists, opening for BB King, The Spinners, Al Green, The Ohio
Players, and others, performing at clubs, concerts, and writing music
throughout the Midwest in 1977. Larry moved to Seattle where he continued
to perform at such noted venues as Jazz Alley, Paramount Theatre, and The Tacoma Dome. It was in Seattle where Larry broadened his skills in
production to include a solo project, First Impression and Larry's
remake of Black Orpheus that received much radio play throughout
the Pacific North West, a jingle for Executive Hosts Restaurants, and also
supplied Half Time Music for the Seattle Super Sonics. After much
correspondence and sharing of his music, a Motown (LA) contact encouraged
Larry to move to Los Angeles in 1987.
Percussionist, Steve Reid
graciously hosted Larry after his move to Los Angeles, while he settled.
At that time, Larry contacted another friend, Marcel East and the two
began collaborating on production projects. Through this business
collaboration, Larry worked with such artists as James Ingram, David
Benoit, and many noted artists. Larry's career was taking off as a
drummer. He was introduced to film, TV, music man, Sydney James. Sydney
repeatedly called Larry in on film pre-recorded and appearing as a
sideline musician in films which include Mobsters, What's Love Got To
Do With It, Sister Act 2, Princess Diaries, and more. In 1994, Larry
received a call from two other Detroit Alumni, Guitarist Ricky Rouse, and
Bassist Tony T. Green. At that time, the two had been working with rap
artist, producer Warren G. They urged Larry to come in the studio and play
drums on a project produced by Warren G. featuring Nate Dogg, Snoop Dog,
The Twinz, and The Five Footaz. That day, Larry arrived in the studio, laid
down drum tracks and was immediately called back to record more. At that
time, Larry was asked to perform with Warren G. on The Billboard Music
Awards which landed him the drum chair and programming two world
tours, numerous television appearances. He still today records with the
crew.
Steve Reid introduced Larry to
the contact at Voice Crystal/Eye & I Productions to begin producing
Audio
Sampling CDs. At that time, Larry recorded his first Audio Sampling CD,
Big Fat Beats & Loops Vol. 1. As Larry continued to perform as a
drummer, drum programmer, he began receiving calls from well known artists
to custom make their own Beats & Loops CD. After a few years of making
customized CDs, Larry decided to develop BeatworkzLtd. He has put together
a production team of talented producers, Tha Professa, Madhouz
Productions, Bootleg X, and DJBF. This team brings to you one of the
hottest Sample Libraries to date with style, Hip Hop, R&B, Old School,
Rap, Nu Soul, Trance, Dance, Rock, Metal, Latin, Jazz, and abstract.
In closing, Larry managing
BeatworkzLtd, performs clinics, concerts and tours throughout the year and
